Members shall conduct all professional activities with honesty, transparency, and integrity. This includes accurate representation of services, credentials, pricing, and outcomes. Misleading advertising, exaggerated claims, or deceptive business practices are strictly prohibited.

1.2

Respect & Dignity

Every client, colleague, vendor, and community member shall be treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. Discriminatory conduct of any kind is a violation of TxSA membership standards.

1.4

Scope of Practice

Members shall practice only within the scope of their training, licensure, and certification. No member shall perform services for which they are not qualified or licensed under Texas state law. Referrals to qualified professionals are expected when a client's needs exceed a member's scope.

1.5

2

Client Safety & Care Standards

The safety and wellbeing of every client is the foundation of spa and wellness practice.

2.1

Informed Consent

Members shall obtain informed consent from all clients prior to any service. Clients must be clearly informed of the nature of the service, potential risks or contraindications, expected outcomes, and their right to decline or stop any treatment at any time.

2.2

Health Intake & Contraindication Screening

A thorough health intake process must be completed for all new clients and updated regularly for returning clients. Members shall screen for contraindications and modify or decline services when client safety may be at risk.

2.3

Members shall maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures relevant to their practice setting. Facilities must have accessible first aid supplies, clearly posted emergency contact information, and staff trained in basic emergency response protocols.

2.5

All products used in treatments must be appropriate for professional use, properly stored, and applied within manufacturer guidelines. Members shall disclose product ingredients upon request and screen clients for known allergies or sensitivities before application.

2.6

Draping & Client Modesty

Proper draping techniques must be used at all times to protect client modesty and comfort. Clients must be informed of draping procedures before treatment begins and their preferences respected throughout the session.
